Poor man’s RV - an air mattress in the back of a minivan. I do have a tent with me too but since there were tornado and flash flood warnings last night I decided to stay inside.
A temporary break from the rain.
I wish I’d had the patience to storm watch for a bit, there is some absolutely WILD lightning on the plains.

I’m on a work road trip that’ll cross 11 states (but conveniently includes a break for the Indy Grand Prix). It’s not too shabby.

I like minivan camping. I occasionally think about buying a minivan for the ability to sleep in the back. I drove the family minivans as a teenager so I've got nothing against them.

Yeah, I’m definitely considering going this route for a second car. This is sort of a trial run!

Not that I saw anything about. I’ve moved on from that site but it was a little sketchy for a few hours.

We used to do that. We’d get a $111 per night ’sustenance allowance’. Camping on that paid for a lot of nice tools...until management caught on.

Seems snug and cozy to me. I've done the back of a pickup that had a canopy on it but the minivan seems like a better idea.

Once upon a time I had to do a site in Williston, ND when the hotels were booked for months out by workers . So I drove and camped at one of those campgrounds where you just drop $6 in the self pay pole and I took a photo for my “receipt”. Accounting wouldn’t accept it.

The cup holders for the third row seats work great for a beer in bed.

Camping in a minivan/MPV is pretty great. All you need is somewhere to get your head down for the night with enough space to get dressed in the morning that your not kicking backs of chairs, etc...

I slept in my van last weekend after a wedding. The venue was not near a hotel, so they recommended camping in tents. I said screw it, put up a curtain between the back and the front seats, threw a twin matt ress back th ere, and slept like a baby all evening. 10/10 would recommend

I’m late to this post, but that looks like a very comfy way to camp. :)
We used to camp in the back of our 1993 Dodge Caravan back when we were kids....let me tell you seats were VASTLY less light to remove back then. :P
Always enjoyed it though!

Seats in this are folded into the floor, which is still crazy to me. And it’s super comfy but it’s effing cold in Indy right now!! I brought my warm weather sleeping bag because mummy bags are hard to sleep in for someone who tosses and turns but I wish I’d packed some wool long underwear.

Sounds similar to here! The days are relatively warm (+16 celcius), but it goes down to only 0-+5C overnight right now... :/
